Maintenance release: proxy/IP handling, platform updates, and stability fixes
Friday maintenance drop across 5210R/5211R/5212R: improved proxy and client-IP handling in the web stack, PHP/session and platform updates, DNS and Radicale fixes, plus a batch of stability work. 5211R shops should pull the latest Solarspeed PKGs for PHP 8.4 GUI compatibility.
We have pushed a broader maintenance set for BlueOnyx 5210R, 5211R, and 5212R.
We normally avoid large, invasive updates on Fridays or over the weekend. This round is an exception: improved handling of reverse-proxy and client IP headers in the web stack needed to go out promptly, and related work was already deep in base-apache, base-nginx, and base-subdomains. Shipping only a narrow slice and leaving the rest half-done was not practical, so the full set goes out together.
Thanks to Greg Kuhnert for the report and feedback that helped drive the proxy/IP side of this work.
Highlights
- Improved proxy / client-IP handling for webserver logging and related front ends (including cases where client-supplied headers could distort logged addresses).
- 5211R / 5212R:
admserv-phpupdated to PHP 8.4. - 5211R / 5212R: CodeIgniter updated to the current supported line used with AdmServ.
- 5210R / 5211R / 5212R:
admserv-phpuses its own session directory; OS PHP session paths return to default ownership and permissions. - Stability fixes (including CCE unstuck paths, network/hostname handling, Sauce queue behavior, swatch / Monitorix / GoAccess, sitestats AM NOINFO, and related items).
- DNS: more reliable enable/start and disable/stop of BIND.
- 5210R: drop unsupported
OOMPolicyfromadmserv.service. - Retired legacy GUI HTTP port 444 in favor of the normal GUI HTTPS port.
- Radicale /
base-organizerfixes so the service starts cleanly on affected platforms. - Additional smaller fixes across the tree (too many to list exhaustively).
5211R: Solarspeed PKGs and PHP 8.4
On BlueOnyx 5211R only, the admserv-php-fpm and CodeIgniter update means IonCube-encoded GUI pages from the shop must match PHP 8.4. Please install the latest Solarspeed PKGs from the shop.
Updated PKGs were already published a few days ago and were backdated so sites without a current subscription can still pull a fixed build.
If the GUI misbehaves after update
dnf clean all && dnf update -y
If that is not enough and the server is a BlueOnyx 5211R:
/usr/sausalito/sbin/pkg_prepare.pl -i -u "https://newlinq.blueonyx.it/download//Compass-base-2.4.1-1.pkg" /usr/sausalito/sbin/pkg_prepare.pl -i -u "https://newlinq.blueonyx.it/download//Compass-webapps-2.8.17-1.pkg"
As usual: Apply the full set rather than cherry-picking single RPMs from this release.
