5209R: SpamAssassin update

Posted by: mstauber Category: General

A recent SpamAssassin update on CentOS 7 caused issues with the AV-SPAM.

Last night CentOS published an updated "spamassassin" RPM to the CentOS 7 "Updates" repository. This RPM caused conflicts with the separate "spamassassin" RPM shipped with the AV-SPAM v6.

We just rebuild ours and released it as spamassassin-3.4.0-5, which now (again) has a newer release number than the "stock" spamassassin and takes precedence during a YUM update.

If you have a BlueOnyx 5209R with the optional AV-SPAM installed and are experiencing email or SPAM related problems after last nights updates, then please run these two commands from the shell as "root":

yum clean all
yum update

That should install spamassassin-3.4.0-5 and it will also restart "spamassassin", making the problem go away.

If you feel so inclined you can also restart the entire AV-SPAM afterwards, but it shouldn't be necessary:

/usr/sausalito/sbin/avspam_init.pl -restart

And then give it about 20 seconds and check its status this way:

/usr/sausalito/sbin/avspam_init.pl -status

If you have any further troubles with this, let us know.
